ICZM: Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) may be defined as a process that aims to define and achieve common objectives for the protection and sustainable management of coastal resources and environments. It adopts a multidisciplinary approach and brings together those involved in the development, management and use of the coast within frameworks that facilitates the integration of their interests and responsibilities (Coastal Zone Canada Association 2000). In Scotland, ICZM is primarily, although not exclusively, taken forward by local (coastal and/or marine) partnerships, such as the Firth of Clyde Forum.
