Firth of Clyde Forum Annual Conference 2004

Transport in the Firth of Clyde: Is Integration Possible?

Welcome to the Proceedings of the Firth of Clyde Forum's Annual Conference 2004

Transport in the Firth of Clyde: Is Integration Possible? was held on the Tall Ship, the Glenlee, on the Clyde in Glasgow on the 12th November 2004. It was a highly successful event, attended by over 100 people from local authorities, businesses, community groups and interested individuals. The unusual venue also drew in a great deal of press interest which was excellent and raised the profile of the Forum and the work we do.

We were very lucky to secure speakers from a wide range of organisations to consider past, present and future forms of transport, the challenges of sustainable transport and ways to make full and integrated use of the Firth of Clyde area in the future. The event brought bring key players from ferry operators to research institutes together for the first time to discuss how to best to return the Clyde to its heyday as a vibrant transport link.

This part of the website provides a summary of all the presentations given as well as the original presentations themselves. The speakers' biographies and organisations represented at the event are also available here as are a list of links to go to for further information.

Due to the packed nature of the day, we did run low on discussion time. We hope to arrange a follow-up event to pick up these discussion later in the year. In the meantime, we would welcome any comments you have on the conference. Please send us an email or give us a ring.

Many thanks to the speakers who presented such interesting work in a lively and stimulating way and also to all who attended and made the day such a bustling, inspirational event.
